Best Laser Hair Removal in San Diego

Men and women alike can now make unwanted facial or body hair a thing of the past and forget about painful waxing, electrolysis and razors. The LightSheer® laser hair removal system delivers 21st century technology, in your doctor’s office, for the treatment of this distressing problem. The LightSheer® system presents a revolution in hair removal. Using technology beyond that of other lasers, the LightSheer® can disable hundreds of hair follicles in less than one second. The procedure is computer-guided and promises long-lasting results.

The LightSheer® hair removal system is a non-invasive laser specifically designed to eliminate undesired hair from all parts of the body. The LightSheer® system generates intense long-pulsed light through an actively-cooled handpiece to effectively disable unwanted pigmented hair follicles, thus impairing their growth. The laser’s cold handpiece is placed gently on the skin, as pulses of light are delivered from the laser. When the light penetrates the skin, it selectively damages the root of the unwanted hair.

With the “cool tip” handpiece and the LightSheer® process your technician can gently treat hair while maintaining a healthy, normal appearance of the surrounding tissue. The LightSheer® can remove hair from all parts of the body including the cheeks, legs, arms, underarms, and back, as well as sensitive areas like the ears, nose, chest, nipples, and bikini line.

Find out if you could benefit from the longer lasting results provided by the LightSheer® hair removal system. How does LightSheer® compare with other hair removal methods? Shaving, waxing, and depilatory creams are all temporary methods which must be repeated on a regular basis. Hair removal with LightSheer® offers longer lasting results.

How do LightSheer® treatments compare with electrolysis?

Electrolysis is a tedious, invasive and painful process that involves inserting a needle into each hair follicle and delivering an electrical charge to destroy them one at a time. Electrolysis often requires years of treatments at regular intervals. LightSheer® delivers light energy non-invasively to hundreds of hair follicles simultaneously. So, in a few min., LightSheer® can effectively treat an area that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

What are LightSheer® treatments like?

LightSheer’s cold handpiece can greatly reduce any discomfort during treatment. When the pulse of light is delivered some patients experience a mild sting or pinch similar to the snap of a rubber band. No local anesthesia or pain medication is required. Some patients prefer a topical anesthesia when sensitive areas are treated.

Are there any side effects?

Short term side effects may include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling which typically lasts less than an hour, although rarely may last a few days. In rare instances there may be some blistering.

Does skin color make a difference?

With LightSheer’s unique design your technician has the flexibility to provide a customized treatment. Patients with fair skin respond the best. Suntanned patients or those with darker pigmentation may be pretreated with a topical skin bleaching agent, wear a sun screen and avoid the sun for at least six weeks prior to treatment.

How many treatments are required?

The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depends on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair’s growth cycle. Your hair grows in cycles and many factors influence its growth. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in your hair’s location, thickness and resilience.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?

After your treatment, the area is cleansed and you can return to your normal activities. Your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regime especially formulated for your skin type after laser treatments. The use of sun screen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.
